America Needs More Immigrants :: Argumentative Persuasive Argument Essays
After political security, there is nothing that the Republic needs to such an extent as bone and ligament, for the advancement of its huge assets . . . we need fragile living creature and blood, men, ladies, and kids, to help with satisfying that aim. ââ¬Editorial from the Commercial and Financial Chronicle, distributed in August 12, 1865ââ¬as the re-United States reels once more from the disruptiveness of the Civil War (Abbott 156) At the point when my precursors went to the U.S. during the 1800s to help fabricate the cross-country railroad (empowering intracontinental business on an exceptional scale), it was extremely obvious that outsiders added to Americaââ¬â¢s financial flourishing. Does this stay genuine today? Today is an altogether different time than the repercussions of the Civil War. Or then again right? Presently, the U.S. is additionally reeling once more from wars, but of totally different sorts: the Cold War and the most recent arrangement of uproars in the urban communities. The U.S. is turning inwards, needing to remake its foundation and downtowns. Pre-prominence in different logical territories and the training of its residents, who are, by world measures, slacking instructively, are again prime national goalsââ¬much as they were following the Civil War. Aptitudes and work are required. Despite the fact that not as intensely portrayed as in a North-South isolation, the American populace is still harshly separated over numerous issuesââ¬one of which is movement. Would movement exasperate our issues, particularly joblessness and social strain, or advantage us, as it did past to and following the Civil War? All through the 1800s, preservationist government officials were determined that movement would bargain political security; and local Californian diggers, workers, and ranchers expected that the Chinese would deplete Americaââ¬â¢s assets and remove employments. The terrible consequences of such feelings of trepidation were the preliminary of Sacco and Vanzetti, finishing off with the execution of two blameless Italian outsiders blamed for surveillance, and the slaughters of Chinese excavators in the western states. These early depreciators of movement were refuted as America developed from an inferior country to the most remarkable economy on the planet. Today, as reflected in the features, calls for migration limitation have recharged the national discussion: Should current degrees of movement proceed in the U.S.? ââ¬Å"How many can America absorb?â⬠is a consistent abstain, reflected in a great many surveys.

Journey to the Center of the Earth Essay
In light of one realistic novel, expound on a significant exercise that you have learnt. A significant exercise that I gained from the realistic novel, Journey to the focal point of the Earth is that we ought to never surrender and believe in ourselves. Teacher Lidenbrock felt energized when he found the archive about how to get to the focal point of the earth. He needed to find out about what lies underneath our feet. in spite of the fact that getting to the focal point of the earth was not going to be simple, he despite everything went on the grounds that he was a decided man. Despite the fact that the excursion was laden with troubles he never surrendered in light of the fact that he believed in himself. At long last the excursion was a triumph. In light of one realistic novel, expound on a glad occasion. An upbeat occasion in the realistic novel of A Journey to the focal point of the Earth is the point at which the Professor, Axel and Hans figured out how to come out of the earth unharmed and alive. They could have effectively when been harmed or kicked the bucket as they were just on a pontoon and were tossed out of an ejecting fountain of liquid magma. They landed unharmed in Sicily which is 3,000 miles from Iceland where they began their excursion. It is a cheerful occasion as they had effectively ventured to the middle to the earth and lived to tell the story of their experience. In light of one realistic novel, expound on an occasion that you can't overlook in the novel. An occasion that I can't overlook is when Axel passed out in light of the fact that they had come up short on water. Hans, their guide at that point left Axel and the Professor. When Axel woke up he searched for Hans. At the point when he was unable to discover Hans he imagined that Hans had abandoned them,. Anyway an hour later Hans returned. He at that point disclosed to them that he discovered water. Axel was extremely thankful to him. This is an extraordinary episode in light of the fact that in spite of the fact that Hans could have effectively left them he didn't. He was a decent and dependable guide. In view of one realistic novel, expound on a character you identify. The character that I identify is Axel Lidenbrock. He is Professor Otto Lidenbrockââ¬â¢s nephew. At the point when the educator needed to make sense of what the runic image in the record by the acclaimed voyager, Arne Saknussem implied he constrained Axel to support him. He said both he and Axel won't eat or rest until they locate the significance. Later when they discover that the archive tells the best way to get to the focal point of the earth the teacher powers Axel to go with him. I think as an uncle, the teacher is a domineering jerk and I feel for Axel in light of the fact that he isn't given a decision by his uncle. In light of one realistic novel above, compose climate you like or don't care for the consummation of the story. I didn't care for the completion since I think it is a piece ridicuious. The pilgrims think they are going to bite the dust since they are on a pontoon in a fountain of liquid magma and the temperature is consistently expanding. The water starts to bubble and their pontoon rises lastly when the fountain of liquid magma emits the pilgrims are tossed out of the spring of gushing lava. They land in Sicily, a nation 3,000 miles from Iceland. I think in the event that they were in a fountain of liquid magma that would eject they would have kicked the bucket. Consequently I feel the closure is strange and I didn't care for it. In view of one realistic novel above, compose a fascinating occasion. An intriguing occasion with regards to the realistic novel, Journey to the focal point of the Earth is the point at which the pilgrims are trapped in an electrical tempest. They were going in an underground ocean on a pontoon made by Hans. Unexpectedly the pontoon was hit by an electrical tempest. Axel almost passed on yet fortunately he endure. The wayfarers arrived on a sea shore. The compass demonstrated that they were back where they began. Anyway the educator didn't surrender and said the time had come to traverse the risky ocean once more. I found the occasion fascinating as it demonstrated that the educator doesn't surrender without any problem.

Here Is What You Do If You Get Waitlisted Everywhere TKG
Here Is What You Do If You Get Waitlisted Everywhere We recently received an email from a student with a very reasonable question that might seem like a panic-inducer to many: Subject: What to do if youâre waitlistedMessage: Hi Caroline,I know that there are still a lot of college decisions awaiting to be released, but after two waitlists and one rejection letter, Iâm starting to feel worried about my chances at other schools (the schools I am waiting for a similar tier). I was wondering what should I do after accepting a spot on the waitlist for a college? I have seen mixed opinions about college updates across the Internet; some sources say it may upset admissions officers as theyâre alrwady very busy while others say that an update could potentially help my application be accepted. Should I send additional materials? What should I talk about? From a slightly concerned senior. While this is not a common circumstance and this never happens to kids we work with, we want all students to be prepared for the fact that itâs po ssible. If the college bribery scandal were any indication, college is getting more and more competitive by the day. All high schoolers should be prepared for any given scenario.Chill out First, you need to meditate. The next step is going to be to make some choices and organize your preferences. This requires focus. And you canât exactly focus if thoughts and feelings are swirling around in your head. Take a moment to pause and center yourself. Once youâre a bit more clear-headed, start to prioritize. Commit It might seem counter-intuitive, but at this stage in the game, youâre going to commit to a school. You might be thinking, âHey, TKG. How can I commit to a school that hasnât made me an offer yet?â The answer is, thereâs this little thing called a âyield rate.â Yield rates is the number of students who are accepted into a school who ultimately matriculate. And waitlists are all about yield rates. Schools donât want to accept anyone off the waitlist who i snât going to come, so what you need to do is demonstrate your commitment. Send the school you want to attend most a letter that basically says you will absolutely, unequivocally, cross your heart and hope to die stick a needle in your eye, swear to god that you will go to that school if youâre accepted off the waitlist. Say that, but probably more professionally so. Expect the Worst If youâve applied to 10 schools and get waitlisted or rejected from all 10, then the first thing you need to do is refer to steps one and two above. The next thing you should do is identify a few gap year options as a backup plan. Gap years are increasingly common. American high schoolers are adopting a trend thatâs been popular in other countries for a long time. Taking a year between high school and college can be awesome, especially if you feel like youâre not ready for the academic and social changes involved with college, or you just want to see the world or do some service before loc king yourself into pre-med for four years. Gap years are also great for students who donât quite make it in where they expected to. You wonât be alone or have to feel awkward about explaining your circumstance. You can spend a year hanging out, growing, and learning alongside other kids who have made a similar choice. Heck, even Malia Obama took a gap year. Get Ahead Before It Happens As we said above, this doesnât happen to the kids we work with. In fact, in our seven-year history, itâs never happened once. Our method is, in part, risk-averse. In addition, we invest in strategic planning and long-term thinking to help our students find the perfect fit for them. If a kid has a 33, we operate as though theyâre not going to get into the Ivy League. Thatâs because we know the way to avoid a calamity is to be rational and focused. Some people think that applying to a ton of schools will definitely ensure theyâll get in somewhere. We find that that throwing a lot of spa ghetti at the wall can have messy consequences. If a student has a 33 and applies to all 8 Ivy League schools, the probably still wonât get in. Instead, we help our clients form realistic lists of schools that are a great match for them. That also means we spend time helping students soul search at the beginning of their process. In short, the only way to avoid this issue is, first, to work hard to be an impressive candidate, to honestly evaluate yourself, and to create realistic goals. Need help figuring out a backup plan? Gossip Girl A American Dream Through Its Key Theme Of...
Gossip Girl also promotes a lavish American Dream through its key theme of class aspiration and social mobility. Peopleââ¬â¢s understanding of class stems from how the media portrays the different classes. Many TV shows distort perceptions of class by not accurately representing the middle class. Shows such as Modern Family are intended to represent a blended, complicated, middle class family. However, the struggles of that modern family, are never monetary, which is not accurate to the middle class. As Juliet Schor explains televisionââ¬â¢s constant and inaccurate depictions of wealth, ââ¬Å"inflate the viewer s perceptions of what others have, and by extension what is worth acquiring-what one must have in order to avoid being out of it.â⬠(Schor). Furthermore, Gregory Mantsios argues, that rarely, if ever, do TV shows acknowledge the working class or lower class. In fact, the show The Working Class (2011) was cancelled after only one season because of bad ratings. Gossip Girl is also guilty of misrepresenting class, however they do this by making the upper-middle class seem like the lower class. As Chuck Bass says in episode 104, ââ¬Å"Everyone out there wants to be us. We are what you aspire toâ⬠. The show primarily idealizes a privileged lifestyle by bashing on the lower class. This can again be seen in the treatment of Dan and Jenny. The show encourages its audience to view Dan and Jenny Humphrey as average, put-upon, middle-class teens. In May 2013, a Gallup poll showed that 53% of Americans support same sex marriage (ââ¬Å"Gayâ⬠3). Same sex marriage has been legalized in 17 US States and the District of Columbia. 33 states have laws and or constitution amendments that ban the marriage of two people that share the same gender (5). By legalizing same sex marriage in all states, there will be an increase in adoptions, a financial increase and help the mental and physical appearance of thousands of Americans. Face book became publicly listed in markets in the year 2012 and launched its Initial Public offering in February 2012. The stock of this company received tremendous response from the public within a period of three months from the launch of the IPO. Marketing Analysis The company Face book is in to the virtual social networking business and develops several programming interfaces that also allow integration of the Face book with several web and mobile applications. So far, the company never had to spend on excessive marketing and advertising budgets, as it had the first mover advantage while entering the virtual social networking business. The viral nature of its business and simplicity of its web operations to its users made it a quick success in the last decade (Edwards, 2014). The company has stayed as the market leader since its inception and had spent on few marketing strategies to promote its business, especially during its initial establishment stages. The Nature of Face books Marketing Strategy or Strategies since it began The following are the prominent strategies implemented by the company face book that it used to attract maximum user profiles and obtained high popularity in short span of time: Face books fan page system is one of the features that attracted maximum attention of the web users to this website. Strategic Marketing Options for Face book moving forward Face book has already started taking some of the strategic steps that would help this company in moving forward in the social networking business. The company has equipped itself by starting to offer a Face-book centric internet to the new users of the social networking sites and internet technology at large. Face book Zero was introduced by the company in the year 2010 that offered a stripped down text version of the face book website to several internet carriers at almost free cost of service (Linder, 2012). Another strategic marketing option that the company is looking forward is of having Face book as the home page in the several android technology supported mobile phones. These strategic options would directly influence the growth and popularity of the core face book application on the web as well as the next generation mobile phones (Lyons, 2012). The company might also look forward to strengthen their search support tools and facilities, which are currently the core competency of their key competitor Google. The search bar offered by face book currently is limited to searching the acquaintances and groups on the Face book with respect to their names, places, city, etc. The company can add more effective search tools and applications in their website as it obtains a large pool of social data every second. The effective sharing of this social data through latest technology search options can further help the company in retaining the already attracted one billion user base. Providing newer application and innovative tools and options on this platform may also curb the risk of its current users switching to other lucrative social networking platforms (Talbot, 2013). The social networking business is gradually becoming highly competitive due to the introduction of new technologies in the market. At this juncture, the company Face book needs to carefully deign an effective marketing strategy that keeps the users hooked and addicted to the face book screen (Drake, 2012). Continuous product inno vation strategy and adaptations to updated service technology for both web as well as the latest mobile applications is the must be followed strategy that the company should adhere to retain its market share in the cut throat competitive markets (Bradley, 2002). Finally the company face book should always keep its core competency alive of giving social spin to the content posted on the platform by individuals and commercial entities. The future strategic marketing efforts put by the company should thus revolve around retaining its existing user base by keeping its audiences hooked and engaged through innovative and user friendly tools and applications. Conclusion The Company Face book has indeed emerged as the market leader in the online (virtual) social networking business as on date. The company has used several interesting and innovative marketing strategies to attract new users to its website. Recently the company also responded very effectively to the global mobile innovations and has successfully developed viable and user-friendly mobile applications as well. The company had benefited immensely in the past due to the explicit first mover advantage that it got in the online social networking business. However, with the advancement in the technology world, several new competitors have entered the virtual social networking business, posing a severe threat to the face books popularity and the current market leadership.
